Welcome to Broken Arrow, home to the Rose District and so much more. Our community is so awesome that we ended up in two counties — Tulsa County and western Wagoner County. We like to call ourselves “Broken Arrowans”. We are the largest suburb of Tulsa, the fourth largest city in Oklahoma and 280th largest city in the United States. Our city is part of the Tulsa Metropolitan Area, which has a population of 961,561 residents.
Broken Arrow has an economically diverse community. Although we had our beginnings as an agricultural community, it now the third largest concentration of manufacturers in the state. In recent years, city leaders have pushed for more economic development to help keep more Broken Arrowans working, shopping and relaxing in town rather than going to other cities.
We’ve come up with great ways to make this goal become a reality. The city decided to adopt a downtown revitalization master plan to rejuvenate the city’s historic downtown area. We built a new three-story museum to house the historical and genealogical society, a new performing arts center, a farmer’s market and plaza, as well as updates and expansions to the area parks. The historic Central Middle School on Main Street has been transformed into a professional development center with incentives to encourage denser infill, redevelopment and reuse of the area’s historic buildings. There have been many other infrastructure and landscape improvements during this decade with even more to come.
Following the strict new design standards that are imposed on all new developments in the downtown area has ensured that the new structures compliment and fit in with the historic buildings in the downtown area. The Rose District is the crown jewel of the city’s renovation efforts. The Rose District hosts a variety of events, delicious foods and shopping for the whole family.
Thanks to our hard work, we now enjoy the beauty of the renovated downtown as well as the many new townhouses, shops and offices in the downtown area.
