Welcome to Claremore! We are located in the county seat of Rogers County. We are considered to be a part of the Tulsa Metropolitan Area and home to Rogers State University which offers associate and bachelor degrees to over 4,300 students. Rogers State University is also the only public four-year university in the Tulsa Metropolitan Area.
There are many historic homes and other buildings in Claremore, including the old business district. In 2002, Claremore’s historic core received a rebuilding grant from the state’s Oklahoma Main Street program. Renovation work on the downtown was completed in 2007.
Claremore is a bit of a starlet, having been the home of entertainer Will Rogers, chosen as the setting for the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Oklahoma!, as well as the setting for an episode of The Quantum Leap (TV series) and the moving movie Where the Heart Is. These guest appearances hasn’t spoiled us one bit and we remain a warm community that strives to bring out the best in ourselves and others.
Claremore is home to the main campus of Rogers State University, a bachelor’s and associate’s degree-granting state institution. The university serves over 4,300 students, and is the only public four-year university in the Tulsa Metropolitan Area. It is also the home to Northeast Technology Center, a vocational training campus which serves over 200 students and offers both full-time and short-term classes.
Our city is alive with families and young students, so much so that we have created a popular website called moreClaremore.com, which focuses on positive community journalism. It was launched in April 2013 and focuses on community events, local businesses, people, and schools. It also features the central community calendar for the area.
