Welcome to Sand Springs! We are located in Osage and Tulsa counties in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. A suburb of Tulsa, it is located predominantly in Tulsa County. Our city was founded in 1911, by an Oklahoma philanthropist Charles Page, who envisioned Sand Springs as a haven for orphans and widows. He helped found and develop Sand Springs as a model city that included all components of a total community.
Although the proximity to Tulsa has fueled our growth, the ideal of total community still prevails. We have our own distinctive character. Unlike some of the surrounding cities, we provide the residents with a variety of municipal services, including:
- Comprehensive land use planning and zoning services
- Construction and maintenance of highways, streets, and other infrastructure
- Cultural events
- Parks and recreational activities
- Police and fire protection
Our utility systems operate for the benefit of the City of Sand Springs and are an integral part of city operations. We also own and operate an 18-hole golf course, the Canyons at Blackjack Ridge, and the Sand Springs-Pogue Airport under the SSMA.
Our city is at the nexus of a wide variety of cultural sites and natural treasures. The 1300-acre Keystone Ancient Forest Preserve is home to 300-year-old cedars and 400- and 500-year-old post-oak trees, all predating the birth of the U.S. More of the area’s natural beauty and recreational opportunities are found in Keystone State Park, a family fun haven featuring 22 lake-view cabins with fireplaces, picnic areas, tent campsites, a children’s fishing pond and hiking trails.
Community, amenities, natural beauty and recreational opportunities are just a few of the reasons to learn how you can find your dream home in Sand Springs.
