Brookside, the neighborhood along “The Restless Ribbon” in Tulsa Oklahoma from E. 31st Street S. to E. 51st Street S. (at I-44) in midtown Tulsa, Oklahoma from the Arkansas River and Riverside Drive on the west side to S. Lewis Ave on the east side, is a neighborhood in midtown Tulsa bisected by Peoria Avenue. People refer to businesses along Peoria and 41st Street as being “on Brookside.”
Brookside is an especially vibrant community, having been well established as midtown’s shopping district since the 1940’s.
In the 1950’s, it was the place to be seen and be seen as teenagers drove their cars up and down Brookside, stopping off at Pennington’s Drive In. Claud’s Hamburgers and Weber’s Root Beer Stand are still open to this day. The first Arby’s is still on Brookside. The first Quik Trip was also located just south of the interstate on Peoria.
We currently have 6 different stores where I go when I am in the middle of a recipe and have to run to the store for whatever ingredient I’m missing:

- Mecca Coffee Co.
- Whole Foods Market
- Trader Joe’s
- Walmart Neighborhood Market
There are numerous restaurants for fine dining, casual dining, and fast food. There are bars and grills of all types. You can get your car repaired, buy a motorcycle, buy insurance, take pets to the veterinarian, or go to the bank. You can meet almost every human need right here in Brookside.
And when you have bought too much stuff and need a place to stash it, you can take it to The Attic on Brookside, a pristine, climate-controlled facility with 600 units.
